In the litigation arena, Rob Selzer enjoys the drama, suspense, and most of all, the competitiveness that “gets his juices flowing.” Yet despite loving nothing more than fighting for his clients in a contentious courtroom, he remains the calmest combatant of all. It is when others have let their emotions cloud their legal perspective that he is able to stay the course, presenting his case with clarity and conviction and winning the battle. It is a formula for success that has served him well since forming the firm known today as Selzer Gurvitch some 30 years ago.

Emerging victorious for his clients is what has motivated Rob ever since he finished his years with the Peace Corps and pursued a legal career that he hoped would challenge him both competitively and intellectually. His practice is equally divided between commercial litigation and corporate & business matters, and he has secured more than his share of multimillion dollar verdicts and settlements. The most rewarding part, however, is that many of his clients are now among his closest friends, people who have come to admire the intellect and ethical consistency that make Rob a one-of-a-kind.

Rob enjoys the camaraderie and esprit de corps that makes Selzer Gurvitch a remarkably collaborative firm where everyone pulls together as a team to always meet–and often exceed–clients’ expectations. He can’t imagine another profession being as rewarding as practicing law or anything providing as challenging a competitive outlet as trying cases in court.

Admitted to practice in both Maryland and the District of Columbia, Rob has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He is a longtime member and active supporter of the Bar Association of Montgomery County and the D.C. Bar. A graduate of the University of Miami (Fla.) Law School, he earned his B.A. from the State University of New York (SUNY-Albany).
